Sica’s Guest House and Conference facility was opened in 1995 by Jan, Sica and Janus Horn. We started with 3 bedrooms and have grown the business to a 50 bedroom establishment with a restaurant, 5 x conference venues and much more. It is a family business with Janus Horn, active as the General Manager.

Jan Horn is in charge of maintenance, Sica Horn is in charge of PR relations and Kelly Horn is the admin person. We have 47 x permanent staff with many of them been with us for over 10 to 15 years. This is our little piece of paradise.

My name is Janus Horn and I am married to Kelly Horn. I have 3 children, Lara (17), Nicholas (6), Ethan (4). I am a qualified professional tennis coach (USPTR) and an avid golfer. I love cooking. I am the chairman of Sector 1 of the Mayville Community Police Forum, Past Captain of Natal Nomads Golf Club, Past President and Chairman of Berea Lawn Tennis Club.

I have been on numerous board and governing bodies. We have a Non Profit Company called Downsideup that assists people with Down Syndrome. Our 6 year old Nicholas has Down Syndrome. I have partnered with various charities during Covid 19 to distribute food hampers to over 3000 families. I am a proud South African.

We live in a suburb called Manor Gardens. It is only 3 km from the city centre and just more than 5 km to to the Beachfront with easy access onto the N2 and N3. We have numerous restaurants in Musgrave and Glenwood (less than 2km away) and the UKZN is close by. The Durban Christian Centre is also within 1 km from us. We have 4 major hospitals in close proximity.

We have various museums near us. Cato Crest informal settlement is 1 km away from us with a rich heritage.
